It’s hard to think about tomorrow when you can’t afford today. We’ve all been there: no matter what you try there’s never enough money to go around. Maybe the bills keep piling up, or maybe you’ve just had a particularly tough month and there’s pressure to make a tough financial decision. MoneyTalks is a free helpline offering advice to anyone struggling with their financial situation.
MoneyTalks is free and available to everyone. You can quickly get in touch with one of MoneyTalks trained financial mentors by phone, text, email, or online chat and they will provide you with confidential – and free – advice. And if you need it they can put you in touch with relevant financial capability and budgeting services providers in your community.
Simply talking things through with someone can often be immensely helpful. A recent call to us involved a woman pushed to the absolute limit; calling from a women’s refuge safe house she described the breakdown in her relationship, the violence, and the toll it took on her children. The stress was unimaginable, but having the opportunity to take a moment, gather herself up, and tell her story was invaluable. We were able to provide her with a clear, concise, and simple set of steps to follow to help immediately improve her situation, for her and her children.
Financial instability can be a drain on your physical and mental health. But with help, you can work through these seemingly insurmountable problems and build a better life for yourself, your family, and your whānau.
MoneyTalks is for everyone: individuals, family, whānau, anyone struggling with their finances in any way. Contacting MoneyTalks is useful when you need to talk through your situation and figure out your next steps. Having some clarity can help reduce your stress, calm your mind and make it easier to deal with what’s in front of you.
